back2school4me!

Who knew that getting a degree would be in the cards for me? I have driven by the Mt. Hood college campus over a hundred times over the past several years and never imagined that I would be a student in its classrooms one day.  Had it not been for Kari Carrithers coming into our lives to help both of my daughters, Jillian and Kristen plan their college careers at the University of Oregon, I would not be in the process of updating and upgrading my own skills at this very moment — kudos to Kari!
Of course, I must also thank my family for being supportive, my husband, Brian, for working his tail off and providing our only source of income for the past 9 years, and the academy for their…oops, got a little off track there, sorry!

So, in September 2007, I was officially enrolled in the Integrated Media Program at Mt. Hood Community College. This two year commitment was quite a leap for me, yet I can’t believe as I post this that I am halfway though the program already.  Herewith are a few pics of my class and our instructor/advisor, Chris Maier basking in the beautiful and warm fall sunshine while discussing our rebranding project…yes, there is sun in Oregon!
Being an older full-time student has been interesting, fun, rewarding and challenging.  It’s great to be back in touch with some of the many things I love — design, new friendly faces and challenging projects galore. Though my area of focus is graphic design, I am also learning web design, getting a taste of broadcasting and video and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into digital photography. This blog is a place to share some of the many highlights of my educational and career focused journey. Feel free to join me by blogging in now and then — I’d love to hear from you!
